A nearly 15-year relationship, 10 of them married, has come to an end for Jessica Simpson and her husband, former NFL player Eric Johnson.

The singer told People magazine that she and Johnson had “been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage.” She asked for privacy as they work through the challenges and focus on their three children.

The breakup may not come as a surprise as Johnson was seen in November without his wedding band and Simpson announced a comeback to music.

She wrote on Instagram at the time, . “This comeback is personal. It’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.”

Simpson and Johnson met through a mutual friend in 2010 and started dating. Six months later they were engaged and finally walked down the aisle in July 2014. They had three children together, daughter Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, born in 2012; son Ace Knute, born in 2013; and youngest daughter Birdie May born in 2019.

Maxi and Ace were part of their parents’ wedding, as flower girl and ring bearer.

Simpson told People magazine that Johnson was her soulmate in 2023.

In September 2023, she shared photos from his birthday, writing “My heart is so taken with this Man, I could hardly call it my own.... We love youuuu.”

Simpson’s home in Los Angeles was recently put up for sale with a price tag of $17.9 million, US Weekly reported. She bought the home from Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne for $11.5 million in 2013. She had listed it for sale in September 2023 but then took it off the market last August.
