Actor Leslie Jordan’s cause of death has been listed as “deferred” by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, pending further investigation after Jordan was found unresponsive in his crashed car in Hollywood on Monday.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner was unable to determine a cause of death following an autopsy on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The medical examiner has requested additional studies and tests to try to determine if Jordan, 67, was killed in the wreck or had a medical issue prior to his car crashing into a building, according to the Times.
According to Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott, Jordan was not breathing when fire department officials arrived on the scene of the wreck.
Scott said an adult male was “pulseless and non-breathing,” as firemen worked to get him from the car. Jordan was the only person in the vehicle, Scott said.
“LAFD responders quickly freed him from his seat belt and removed him from the vehicle to commence CPR and defibrillation, which continued with advanced life support measures by LAFD paramedics for more than 40 minutes,” Scott said.
Jordan reportedly was driving to the film on the set of the sitcom, “Call Me Kat,” when the crash happened.
Jordan was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and moved to Hollywood to become an actor. He had a long career in television, appearing in such sitcoms “Murphy Brown,” and “Newhart,” and starring in recurring roles in “The People Next Door,” “Bodies of Evidence,” and “Reasonable Doubt.” He also had roles in several movies and performed in plays in New York and Los Angeles.
He was nominated for several awards and won an Emmy award for his role of Beverly Leslie on “Will and Grace.”
