The next federal holiday is upon us. On Jan. 20 we honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
The day is celebrated on the third Monday in January.
This year it also marks Inauguration Day.
Many offices and businesses may be closed or operating at different hours because of the day.
Here is what is open and closed. As always you will want to check with your local businesses before heading out.
Closed:
- Schools (depending on state, district) (USA Today)
- Federal offices (USA Today)
- USPS (except priority mail)
- FedEx deliveries (modified services)
- UPS (limited UPS Stores open)
- Banks (USA Today)
- Stock markets (The Wall Street Journal)
Open:
- Grocery stores (USA Today)
- Restaurants (USA Today)
- Most retailers (USA Today)
- Movie theaters (USA Today)
- National Parks (and they’re free to visit, for ones that normally charge entrance fees)
- FedEx Office
