CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee teen accused of killing his grandmother will be tried as an adult, authorities said.

Jacob Lee Carney, 18, of Clarksville, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder, according to Montgomery County arrest records.

Carney was 17 when he was accused of fatally stabbing his biological grandmother, Mary Carney, 67, of Clarksville, on May 17, WZTV reported. The elder Carney had adopted her grandson, the television station reported.

A second victim was also stabbed but survived the attack, the Clarksville Police Department said in a news release.

The identities of Jacob Carney and Mary Carney and their domestic relationship were not previously released by authorities because Jacob Carney was a juvenile, Clarksville Now reported.

Jacob Carney remains in the Montgomery County Jail under $5 million bail, the website reported.
