CINCINNATI — They may have little legs but boy, can they run. And run the wiener dogs did as part of the Oktoberfest Zinzinnati festivities this week.
Cincinnati literally went to the dogs as 100 dressed-up dachshunds raced to win the title fastest wiener dog in town.
Leo was crowned the winner of the 2021 Running of the Wieners, covering 75 feet in 3.07 seconds. Maple was second and Frankie came in third, WLWT reported.

Each got a prize for coming in first, second and third.
Organizers prefer purebred dachshunds, but will accept mixed dachshunds into the race as long as they are the average length and weight of a wiener dog, WLWT reported.
The 2021 Oktoberfest Zinzinnati has been designated the world’s largest this year, because the traditional celebration held in Munich has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WXIX reported.
While the wiener dog run was one of the kick-off events, the weekend celebration wraps with the World Brat Eating Championship with Joey Chestnut defending his nine-year title. He holds the record of eating 70 bratwursts in 10 minutes, WXIX reported.
