R&B singer B. Smyth, whose single “Twerkoholic, Pt. 2″ was released last month, died Thursday after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis, his brother said. He was 28.
In a post shared on the singer’s Instagram account, Denzil Smith said his younger brother, whose real name was Brandon Smith, died of respiratory failure stemming from the lung disease, People reported.
“On behalf of my brother and my family we want to say thank you to all of you for all of your love & support throughout the years,” Denzil Smith wrote in the Instagram caption. “We also want to say thank you for all of your prayers. #RIPBSMYTH Love you bro!”
In the video, Denzil Smith said his brother had been watching dance challenges for “Twerkaholic Pt.2″ three weeks ago while he was in intensive care at a hospital, according to People.
Smyth rose to fame by uploading covers of songs on YouTube and became known for his songs “Might Cuff You,” “Ride Good,” “Creep,” “Leggo” and more, according to E! Online.

Born on March 12, 1994, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native debuted on the charts in 2012 with “Leggo,” featuring 2 Chainz. That song peaked at No. 12 on Billboard’s Hot R&B chart. “Win Win” was a collaboration with Future in 2013.
“Twerkoholic” followed in 2014, followed by “Twerkoholic Pt. 2″ in October 2022.
Comedian Chico Bean, songwriter Derrick Milano and influencer Keeshlinooo were among those to mourn the singer’s passing, according to E! Online.
YouTuber Chyna Willis wrote, “This broke my heart, wow.”
