The University of Georgia says the latest results of coronavirus testing show the number of positive tests holding steady over the past week: 181 positive tests were reported through the University’s Dawg Check system, down slightly from 190 the week before, while surveillance testing at Legion Field and other locations on campus yielded 64 positives, up from the 60 that were reported the week before.
“While I am pleased that our case numbers are holding steady, we must avoid viewing this trendline as a sign to begin relaxing our practices,” said Dr. Garth Russo, executive director of the University Health Center and chair of UGA’s Medical Oversight Task Force. “In fact, these numbers demonstrate that what we are doing as a university community is working to mitigate spread on campus, so let’s keep it up.”
Medical students at the Augusta University-University of Georgia Medical Partnership are set to help administer the COVID 19 vaccine as part of an arrangement with the Clarke County Board of Health. The UGA med students will deliver vaccines through the Athens Free Clinic.
