Q: What causes three week old tomatoes to have curly tops? Will this spread to the other ones in the row?
A: Sometimes, and this may not be the case, herbicides sprayed anywhere nearby then carried in the air cause leaves to curl, which will eventually kill the tomatoes. Tomatoes are extremely sensitive to herbicides. And Walter Reeves says “the cupping, strapping and rolling of leaves and stems is exactly diagnostic for weed killer damage.”
If it’s not that, just make sure they’re getting consistent, though not too much, water. It was suddenly SO hot for a few days last week that they may have been curling to protect themselves, which is natural.
