ATHENS — There’s never an ideal time to have to get your backup quarterback ready to play.
But Kirby Smart did at least acknowledge that the three-week gap between the SEC Championship game and Georgia’s quarterfinal playoff game does give the Bulldogs some time to help prep Stockton while it waits to learn the status of quarterback Carson Beck.
“It certainly wasn’t a great script last night to have to do it against the number one team in the country on defense, and to have to do that at halftime was tough,” Smart said after the SEC Championship game.
“But this situation does give you time if that’s what has to happen. I mean, there is time there. But, I mean, experience is so valuable, and you can’t really get experience in this amount of time.”
