6:00 PM:
Outside, Wanda Cooper-Jones says for 18 months she's questioned what happened to her son #AhmaudArbery in his last minutes of life. She's avoided the video. Today, she decided to watch, and kill her curiosity. She says it was heartbreaking, but she's gotten past it. @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/brd3acJJTE

4:40 PM:
We've been in a break since my last tweet, b/c the State was again facing tech troubles. Bodycam was stuttering, dragging. Jury was taken out. Reporter tells me #AhmaudArbery's mom is still there, looking quietly at the footage on the screen: his body on the street. @wsbradio

2:30 PM:
Rubin plays audio of a Feb 11 2020 911 call. Travis McMichael saw guy in the neighborhood that night, "lurking." Guy hides behind a Porta Potty. When Travis starts to exit car to ask him why he's there, man puts hand into waist "as if reaching for a weapon" #AhmaudArbery@wsbradio pic.twitter.com/tnHMDI2RRw

Greg McMichael yells to Travis, "The guy is running down the street!" They know who it is. Grabs his shotgun for self-protection. Walk out, get in vehicle. When seconds count the police are often minutes away. They're going to try to detain him for police #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/nQw3T7kH2L

Rubin: #AhmaudArbery says nothing to them. He hears Travis McMichael say, We called the police. Bolts back the other way. Travis gets out like, What the heck? We want to talk to this guy. Sees Arbery down the street “trying to get into Roddie Bryan’s truck.” He doesn’t know the black Silverado truck or whose it is. He expects to hear a gunshot because “he thinks #AhmaudArbery is armed like he pretended to be on the 11th,” and this guy whose name he doesn’t know will try to take this guy’s truck.
Rubin: Before the 1st shot is fired they called the police; there was no intent to murder. Travis has his gun for protection.
“This guy has run at him, acted bizarrely, not said a word, now Ahmaud Arbery is running back. Travis’s training taught him to show a weapon to de-escalate violence,” says Rubin.
Rubin: Travis has gun in low-ready position. #AhmaudArbery is running. Travis knows this guy is not predictable. At ~20 yards he raises gun to de-escalate. "Who's going to attack a guy pointing a shotgun? If he wanted to kill him, that was an open shot" @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/NCWwWD9hBF

1:45 PM:
Bob Rubin starts opening for Travis McMichael. “This case is about duty and responsibility,” he says. #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/l5gSrcfccn

Rubin: Travis McMichael, 35, unmarried, father. In Coast Guard from 2007-2016. He was a boarding officer authorized to do arrests and searches, to use his weapon when appropriate. He had federal law enforcement training.
The video you saw earlier doesn’t begin to tell the whole story; it’s like looking through a knothole but you can’t see the whole outfield. The story begins in 2019; Satilla Shores was on edge b/c of a rise in property crimes. Behaviors began to change.
11:00 AM:
#AhmaudArbery's mother Wanda Cooper-Jones lets out an emotional cry as video of his shooting plays. Her lawyer consoles her. "How do you know this was an attack on Mr. Arbery?" asks ADA Dunikoski. "Because Greg McMichael said it perfectly" 'He was trapped like a rat!'" @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/Es5BiUNG9X

Feb 23, 2020 Greg McMichael sees #AhmaudArbery “hauling ass” down the street. “This is driveway decision #1. He’s in his driveway working on boat cushions; has no idea if Arbery’s been in that house...runs inside, gets his gun...Greg McMichael assumes the worst”
Roddie Bryan sees Mr #AhmaudArbery running away from Travis McMichael’s white pickup, makes an assumption, no idea what’s happening, joins in chasing down Mr. Arbery.
State describes the chase of #AhmaudArbery, who ignored the men trying to stop him. He runs off. Turns and runs another way. Truck pulled out to try to cut him off and run him into the ditch. “Mr. Arbery is under attack by all three of these men.”
Bryan tries to hit #AhmaudArbery four different times with his truck. The McMichaels decide to drive up and around, come back down, cut him off. Bryan: "He tried to reach for my door." Bryan gets so close, Arbery's palm print is on the door, white T-shirt fibers on it. @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/pHyWOExexX

State says this brings us to the Roddie Bryan video. It’s longer than any anyone’s already seen. “He was running from all 3 defendants for 5 minutes.” As she readies to show video of #AhmaudArbery’s killing, Marcus Arbery leaves the courtroom, mumbles “I don’t want to see this.”
"What you just saw was Travis McMichael raising up his shotgun. Look how far Mr. #AhmaudArbery is. Mr. Arbery is under attack. He's running away. Truck's always tried to hit him four times. McMichael's out of his truck, with his shotgun!" @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/QiJqB5UuF9

State says, I'll tell you what was said. Ofc Rash tells McMichaels #AhmaudArbery's never taken anything from this property; this looks like loitering, prowling. No one talks abt even attempted burglary. Rash says we want to make contact w/him, tell him not to come back @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/NxiL9T1UEx

State shows jurors a photo of #AhmaudArbery. Tells them he lived nearby. You'll see his shoes, the shoes of an avid runner. Defendants Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, "not a law enforcement officer at the time of this incident." Roddie Bryan, also not law enforcement. @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/1UOLCXDPmB

November 17, 2019, 1021pm. A white couple show up, carrying a bag. Larry English calls 911: I think these are the people stealing from me! They're gone b4 cops arrive. Nov 18, 6:53, #AhmaudArbery is back, on video inside house. @wsbradio
— Veronica Waters (@MissVWaters) November 5, 2021
Larry English installs cameras, and what happens? He gets a looky-loo. On Oct 25 2019 #AhmaudArbery is seen on the dock video. He's wandering around, he does not take anything. Doesn't steal anything. English calls 911. Arbery is already gone when police arrive. @wsbradio

Prosecutor Linda Dunikoski begins, and greets the jurors. "Why are we here? We are here because of assumptions, and driveway decisions." #AhmaudArbery @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/8UQIJpNLIh

9:30 AM: Eleven jurors are seated in the box right now, not four. Wanda Cooper Jones and Lee Merritt, her attorney, arrived in the courtroom at around 9:35. Marcus Arbery, Sr., also arrived with another man.
The Judge is on the bench. Judge Timothy Walmsley grants the State's motion in limine re: #AhmaudArbery's probation; denies the defense motion about the vanity plate on Travis McMichael's truck. They're about to bring in jurors for swearing-in. @wsbradio pic.twitter.com/YExO0Puc25

FRIDAY, 11.5.2021: “Just breathe.” That’s what a man told a woman as the pair settled into the courtroom row reserved for family of defendants Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, and Roddie Bryan. People are gathering in the courtroom and auxiliary locations in the Glynn County courthouse as the trial gets underway in earnest. The jurors’ swearing-in, and opening statements, come today.
Good morning! We're getting in place for the swearing-in of jurors and the opening statements in the #AhmaudArbery shooting case for Greg McMichael, Travis McMichael, & Roddie Bryan.
