The animation below illustrates the futurecast radar imagery for Metro Atlanta today through tomorrow evening.
While rain showers are possible south of I-20, the bulk of the heavy rain will remain in north Metro Atlanta, extending into the North Georgia Mountains. As much as 1-to-1.5 inches of rainfall is possible through Monday night in Metro Atlanta, with up to 2 inches of rain possible in the Lookout Mountain region of North Georgia.
While rain showers won’t come to a complete end on Tuesday morning, they will be light and intermittent. Rain showers are not expected to impact efforts to vote on Election Day Tuesday.
Monday and Tuesday’s rain is courtesy of a warm front lifting north from the Gulf Coast into the Ohio River Valley.
As a result, temperatures will climb this week despite persistent cloud cover. In fact, afternoon highs will climb into the mid 70s on Thursday, close to the daily record high of 73 degrees set in 1978.
