Temperatures climbing this week before dropping this weekend

Afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid-80s this week before our next rain system arrives, dropping highs into the low-40s to mid-50s.

Spring Break in Metro Atlanta started off chilly! Monday afternoon’s highs were limited to the upper 50s and low 60s, however, warmer air is on the way this week!

A ridge of high pressure will settle over the Southeast US mid-week, allowing warm and humid conditions to develop in Metro Atlanta. The average high for Tuesday is 71 degrees, but temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to low 80s.

It will be even warmer on Wednesday! Afternoon highs will trend about 10-15 degrees above average throughout the day.

However, our next rainmaker will arrive late Thursday night through Friday morning.

On Saturday, a “wedge” will set up over the Appalachian Mountains, forcing cool air into the Metro region. As a result, afternoon temperatures will drop into the upper-40s to mid-50s!

You have been warned -- dress accordingly!
